Celebrating Aisyah Odist

Inspiring Indonesian Women

In the lead up to International Women’s Day, MyRedEnvelope is sharing stories from women, who nominated an inspiring women in their life. Here is the wonderful nomination we received for Aisyah Odist.

After cruising Indonesia for many years on a boat and watching the disturbing increase of plastic pollution in the oceans I met Aisyah in Lombok when I was researching for the source of the trash . She lives near one of the biggest rivers on Lombok and fights the Plastic pollution with education for local people and gives them opportunities to be creative and earn money with her own private trash bank . During the earthquakes 2018 she helped to deliver food , Health care and now is building the first ECO SCHOOL for Indonesian children to educate them about pollution, sustainable building, health , organic farming and international connections to open up possibilities for the future.

The video below shows how she turned a dirty slum area into an art village near her house, reducing pollution in one of the largest rivers on Lombok, and this is only a small part of activities she is involved in.

To celebrate International Women’s Day, Bali Wise is presenting a fundraiser dedicated to the women of Indonesia who make a difference.
